The sixth annual Live in the Vineyard kicked off Friday, November 13th with an out of this world VIP party at Robert Mondavi Winery hosted by Margaret Mondavi and winemaker Genevieve Janssens. Genevieve was just named Wine Enthusiast’s 2010 Winemaker of the Year! While we enjoyed a Louisiana inspired dinner from Chef Jeff Mosher paired with a side by side tasting of the 1999/2007 To Kolan Reserve Cabernet, Southern singer/ songwriter, Atlantic recording artist Marc Broussard won everyone over with his soulful lyrics.
The next day our VIP’s boarded the Napa Valley Wine Train with a one-way ticket to Merryvale Winery. On the train, the VIP’s were wined and dined with hors d oeuvres from Chef Kelly MacDonald and wine from the Trefethen Family Vineyards. Loren and Hailey Trefethen were on hand educating our VIP’s on their award-winning wine and vineyards! The VIP’s arrived at Merryvale and were taken into the barrel room with performances by Atlantic recording artist’s Hope and Christina Perri. Christina Perri’s stripped-down piano performance of her hit “Jar of Hearts” left everyone with goosebumps.
That evening our guests all gathered for a cocktail party with savory appetizers to pair with 25 vintners pouring Napa’s finest boutique wines.
Everyone mixed and mingled with several artists before heading into the Grand Ballroom at the Silverado Resort for a night of phenomenal music! Project Aloft Superstar finalist, Adrian Bourgeois kicked off the show. Next up was Hollywood Recording artist Alpha Rev fronted by Casey McPherson who performed their hits “New Morning and “Phoenix Burns”. Island/Def Jam Recording artist Neon Trees hit the stage performing their #1 hit single “Animal” and had the whole crowd singing along to their INXS cover of “Never Tear Us Apart”. Next up was Aware recording artist Guster who won over the crowd with their humor, charm and spot-on vocals. Guster performed many of their hits and their new single “Do You Love Me”. Everyone then headed back out to the fairway deck for a late night happy hour with gourmet comfort food of fried chicken, mac and cheese and Zac Brown’s famous coleslaw. We finished up the night with an out of this world performance by CMA’s Best New Artist, Atlantic recording artist Zac Brown Band. The whole crowd was on their feet when they performed “Who Knows” and some fans were in tears listening to “Colder Weather” and “Free”.
Sunday our grand prize winners headed over to #1 Zagat rated Cole’s Chop House. Celebrity Chef Greg Cole shared his expertise through his “Eye of the Ribeye” demonstration, while Jason from Robert Sinskey Wines poured a few of Sinskey’s spectacular wines to complement. Both Jason and Greg had killer personalities and were joking with our guests the whole time. Over at the Miner Family Vineyards the VIP’s had a chance to taste all of Dave Miner’s exceptional wines while listening to an intimate performance by Mom & Pop recording artist Joshua Radin in the Miner Caves. At one point Joshua hopped unto the captain’s table in the middle of the cave so everyone in the back could hear him. Next stop for the VIP’s was Paraduxx Winery. Winemaker David Marchesi was on hand to educate and charm all of our VIP’s while they enjoyed impeccable food to pair with award-winning Paraduxx and Duckhorn wine out on the winery’s breathtaking patio. The VIP’s then all headed into Paraduxx’s state-of-the art 10-sided stainless steel fermentation facility to see the stunning Epic recording artist Natasha Bedingfield perform. The acoustics were ridiculous as Natasha Bedingfield performed her hits “Pocketful of Sunshine” and “Unwritten” as well as new songs from her new album “Strip Me”.

She continued to impress playing a cover of the White Strips “Seven Nation Army” with a kazoo leading into “Black Horse in a Cherry Tree”.
Monday our Grand Prize Winners headed over to The Girls in the Vineyard. Winemakers Kat and Rob MacDonald along with their partner Matt Stone had a special wine blending session prepared to give our winners the inside track on how Napa’s famous wines are truly created. This was a true highlight of the weekend as it really gave our winners a chance to see the blending process at work. A little friendly competition went a long way as our winners broke off into teams to compete for prizes and medals creating their own wine! Rob and Kat also did a wine tasting of their lineup while Chef Lisa Stalvey performed a food demonstration. Chef Lisa started off with a Croissant Savory Bread Pudding. Next up was Split Pea Soup with Truffle oil and the secret ingredient of shaved truffle! Chef Lisa wrapped it up with Seared Scallops with arugula, dried cranberries, and a caper vinaigrette. Capitol recording artist Runner Runner finished up LITV VI performing “So Obvious and their new single “Hey Alli” on a perfect 80 degrees Fall day in Napa.
